Women in the textile factories of the Global South experience violence in various forms. In the corona crisis, exploitation and harassment, as well as domestic violence, have even increased again.
We see many regressions: Women who resist violence are dismissed – many unemployed seamstresses can easily replace them. The threatening economic situation creates dependencies that continue the spiral of violence.
What is often overlooked: Violence against women and young girls affects physical and mental health, often with years of consequences.
We want to change that!
FEMNET aims to reduce the discriminatory factors that threaten the health of workers: Doubtful recruitment practices of suppliers, forced labour, high production targets, lack of occupational safety and health protection, insufficient social protection (e.g. maternity protection).
Help us with your Donate #againstviolenceforhealth, so that we can contribute with our partners in India and Indonesia to improving the health of women in precarious employment!
And if you want to learn more about the links between violence and health, read our Interview with Dr. Gisela Burckhardt and Sina Marx.
Solidarity with and for women worldwide!
