The lotus weavers of the Inlesee
Rainy season is harvest time at Inlesee in Myanmar. The stems of the lotus plants are crossed by microfine fibers, which are rolled by hand into a yarn and then woven into the most expensive textile in the world. The art of lotus weaving exists only here in Myanmar and is cultivated exclusively by women who know how to use it in the changing society.
