The article argues for the urgent need to decolonize educational structures and contents in Germany. Lawrence Nana Yaw Oduro Sarpong criticizes that previous approaches such as intercultural or global education are often not enough to fundamentally challenge colonial power and thought structures. A decolonial approach to education, on the other hand, aims to break through Eurocentric perspectives, to center marginalized knowledge, and to make visible the continuities of colonialism and racism. The text advocates an education that not only imparts knowledge, but also enables critical action and a transformation of social power relations.
