Fair procurement for the public sector
Gender-Equitable Textile Procurement - that's how it works!
Women are particularly affected by discrimination and violence in the world of work worldwide, but gender equality has so far played little role in public procurement. FEMNET supports municipalities in developing gender-responsive award criteria and implementing them in a practical way.
First workshops in 2025, e.g. in cooperation with the Federal Foundation for Gender Equality, included gender equality officers as a new target group. In order to make the new criteria as practical as possible, we also consulted 10 municipalities and experts for a survey. Based on the workshop results and expert discussions, a pilot project on gender-responsive procurement with the city of Fürth will follow in 2026.
Pilot project with the city of Fürth in 2026
Together with FEMNET, the city of Fürth has investigated whether an upcoming tender in the product groups IT, textiles or food is most suitable for further requirements. New criteria are now being jointly developed that focus on gender equality in the supply chain of agricultural products from the Global South.
Book now for the final workshop!
At the end of 2026, we invite you to a workshop where we will present the results and experiences of the pilot project. All developed criteria are listed under femnet.de/nachweisfragebogen and in the Compass Sustainability www.kompass-nachhaltigkeit.de be retrievable.
Do you want to know how to make your textile or food procurement more gender-responsive?
Interested municipalities can contact us at any time. We will be happy to inform you as soon as the date for the workshop is fixed.
